What they need

Green Star / Sustainability Coordinator — Construction

Established 20+year high-performing construction business seeking a Green Star / Sustainability Coordinator to run Green Star delivery across a live pipeline of Apartment, Hotel, Social Housing and Office projects to $400mil+. Good fit for a GSAP-accredited professional, or someone passionate and willing to get supported through accreditation. To then take real ownership across multiple projects, with the business's in-house Green Star expert on hand to support you.

The Role:

  • Flexible/hybrid — WFH, with a desk in head office.

  • Work closely with the business's in-house Green Star expert and get supported through accreditation if not already accredited.

  • Trusted, high-visibility role — you own each project's Green Star strategy from design through to certification.

  • Several live projects on the go at once, at different stages: early design, mid-construction, near-submission. A steady pipeline across different stages means broad exposure to the full Green Star lifecycle, not the same phase on repeat.

  • Advise project, design and site teams on Green Star credits, compliance risks and practical fixes.

  • Coordinate evidence from consultants, suppliers and subcontractors, and manage submissions through the GBCA online platform.

  • Review material selections, environmental certifications, drawings, specs and subcontractor documentation for compliance.

  • Monitor construction waste, indoor air quality, commissioning and sustainability targets. Run site inspections and training for project staff.

  • Direct line to clients, sustainability consultants and the GBCA.

  • A long-term, secure, stable role — Green Star requirements don't disappear once a project finishes.

The Company:

  • Established 20+ year commercial builder with a solid track record across Apartment, Hotel, Social Housing and Office projects to $400mil+.
  • In-house expertise already in place, so you're supported, not carrying it alone.
  • Flat management structure, open door mentality, always easily contactable.
  • Stable, approachable Senior Management team with over 10 years in business.
  • Reputation for high-quality builds, often delivered ahead of time.
  • Strong cash flow, invoices always paid on time.
  • Tight relationships with repeat Subcontractors, Consultants and Clients.
  • Unionised business with excellent IR.
  • Supportive team environment, from Directors, to Management to Project staff.
  • Streamlined processes—no admin for the sake of admin.
  • Family-orientated, no-fuss, builder's-builder type of culture.
  • Regular reviews and rewards for valued employees.
  • Long-term staff retention (many 10+ year team members).
  • Known for being a great training ground for learning, mentoring and upskilling.
  • Known for promoting staff from within, many success stories of Senior Management coming from humble beginnings.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Current GSAP accreditation through the GBCA, or willing to be supported and earn accreditation.
  • Experience on Green Star-rated Apartment, Hotel, Social Housing or Office projects — having worked through GBCA submissions previosuly, with a certification achieved.
  • Solid working knowledge of Green Star Buildings requirements and the submission/certification process. Green Star Buildings v1.1 experience a bonus.
  • Hands-on experience preparing, reviewing and coordinating submissions and evidence, including via the GBCA platform.
  • Comfortable running sustainability plans, credit trackers and compliance registers.
  • Confident dealing directly with builders, subcontractors, consultants, architects and clients.
  • Good grasp of sustainable procurement, responsible products, waste management, indoor environmental quality and embodied-carbon requirements.
  • Relevant qualification — environmental science, sustainability, engineering, architecture or construction management.
  • Builder or head contractor experience, and/or familiarity with NABERS, NatHERS, NCC energy-efficiency requirements and Victorian environmental regs, well regarded.
  • Life-cycle assessment, embodied-carbon reporting or climate-positive design knowledge a plus.
