What they need

Climate17 is pleased to be working with a leading renewable energy business delivering utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage projects across the UK.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Grid Engineer to support the technical delivery of grid connections across a portfolio of renewable energy projects.

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced engineer with a solid understanding of the UK grid connection process , particularly across 33kV and 132kV projects, who is comfortable working independently across design, approvals, construction and energisation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support grid connection activities across utility-scale Solar PV and BESS projects
  • Coordinate with DNOs, TOs, ICPs, consultants and EPC teams
  • Review connection offers, technical requirements and DNO design comments
  • Support HV electrical design including SLDs, substations, transformers, switchgear, cables and protection
  • Support G99 / Grid Code compliance and associated technical submissions
  • Review power-system studies and technical design documentation
  • Support projects through construction, commissioning and energisation
  • Manage technical queries and help progress projects through UK approval processes
  • Work across multiple projects with a high degree of autonomy

Key requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent background in Electrical / Power Engineering
  • Strong experience within the UK grid connection process
  • Experience across 33kV and/or 132kV projects
  • Knowledge of DNO design review and approval processes
  • Experience within Solar PV, BESS, ICP, EPC or wider HV infrastructure
  • Good understanding of G99, Grid Code and UK network requirements
  • Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote / hybrid environment

Experience across FAT/SAT, commissioning, energisation and EON / ION / FON processes would be advantageous.

Location: UK - remote / hybrid with travel as required

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Package: Bonus and benefits

If you are a Grid Engineer, Grid Connections Engineer, HV Electrical Engineer, Electrical Design Engineer or Substation Engineer with relevant renewable energy experience, we would be keen to hear from you.
