Grid Manager - Germany

My client is seeking an experienced Grid Manager to support the development of large-scale BESS and renewable energy projects across Germany. This is a remote role with a preference for candidates based around Berlin or Stuttgart. It is open as both a long term freelance or permanent role.

Key Responsibilities

• Secure and manage grid connections with TSOs and DSOs.
• Lead grid application processes through to RtB/COD.
• Manage technical design, grid studies, and external engineering consultants.
• Negotiate AEV, NAV, and related grid agreements.
• Develop relationships with grid operators, suppliers, EPCs, and key stakeholders.
• Support project development, sales processes, and regulatory engagement.
• Coordinate with German and UK-based project teams.

Requirements

• Fluent German and strong English.
• Proven experience with grid connections, TSOs/DSOs, and renewable energy or BESS projects in Germany.
• Strong understanding of German grid codes, substations, and connection concepts.
• Experience producing single-line diagrams and managing grid studies.
• Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and project coordination skills.
• Valid driver's licence and right to work in Germany.

Desirable

• Permitting experience related to substations/grid connections.
• CAD skills.
• Power system modelling and simulation experience.
