UMF is a specially qualified producer of hardware and structural components for GE gas turbine engines used for

power generation around the world. Now under new ownership, UMF is poised to grow rapidly.

Open Role: Grinder / Metal Finisher

Experience Level: Entry-Level or Experienced

Job Type: Part time or Full time, Permanent

Wage Type: Hourly

Pay Band: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour novice, $21.00 - $25.00 per hour experienced

Location: On-site in Worcester, MA

Schedule: Day shift

Primary Duties:

● Perform finishing process on near-finished metal parts, including:

o Grinding

o Buffing / Polishing

o Painting - spray, brush, and spray can application of standard and multi-part systems

o Sand blasting

● Interpret customer coating specifications to ensure coating systems match requirements

● Document coatings and finishings

● Interface with ERP system

● Operate pneumatic tools, manual hand tools, and power hand tools

● Assist with Quality Control, Assembly, moving material around the shop, etc

● Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on relevant tools and equipment

● Comply with all safety directives and requirements

Successful candidate profile:

● Helpful and ready to learn

● Follows directions well and demonstrates good attention to detail

● Relevant manufacturing experience is helpful but not required

● Relevant academic coursework for manufacturing trades a plus

● Comfortable in the semi-manual manufacturing environment

● Familiarity with digital production tools (e.g. ERP planning and logging) is a plus

Qualifications required:

● Able to handle prolonged standing, kneeling, bending

● Able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time

● Able to communicate in written and verbal English

● High School Diploma helpful but not required
