You’ll work a Monday–Friday second shift (2:00 pm–10:00 pm), with the possibility of initial training on first shift (6:00 am–2:00 pm). Imagine this challenge
You receive a blueprint and process sheet for a precision mechanical component. You choose the correct grinder—CNC or manual; ID, OD, centerless, or face—compute feeds, speeds, and cycle time; set your gauges; and deliver a part that hits every spec. Then you verify a teammate’s part to help the line move flawlessly.
Your impact
- Set up, adjust, and operate CNC or manual grinders to perform OD/ID, boring, and facing operations.
- Run at least two grinding platforms within the department (CNC, Manual, ID, OD, Centerless, Face).
- Follow blueprints, process sheets, tooling instructions, and standard charts; enter accurate data into the ERP system.
- Use gauges and precision measuring devices to confirm specifications; set and verify preset gauges for proper calibration.
- Inspect your own work, document results, and ensure quality and quantity standards are met; at times, inspect work produced by other operators.
- Calculate dimensions, rotation speeds, feed rates, and machining times.
- Operate multiple machines as needed; use hand tools and manual machines to support production.
- Maintain safety practices and a clean, organized work area; perform other related duties as assigned.
What it takes
- Minimum 6 months of direct experience setting up and operating precision grinding equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency with basic mathematical calculations used in machining.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions in English.
- Moderate physical demand: lift up to 50 lbs and stand throughout the entire shift.
Compensation & benefits
- Pay range: $24.00–$33.00 per hour, based on skills and experience.
- $2/hour premium for 2nd & 3rd shift starting day one, plus a $4,000 sign-on bonus.
- Matching 401(k) contribution.
- Medical, Dental, Vision coverage.
- Short-Term and Long-Term Disability insurance.
- AD&D insurance.
- FSAs (Medical and Dependent Care) and HSAs.
- Critical Illness and Accident insurance, Life insurance, and EAP.
