What they need

Garden Maintenance Supervisor – Hounslow & Hillingdon

£30,000–£33,000 per year | Full-time | Permanent | Monday–Friday
37.5 paid hours per week | Paid fortnightly | Company van

GINKGO is an established horticultural business providing professional garden and grounds maintenance services across London and the South East for over 25 years. We employ more than 90 staff and take great pride in the standard of service we provide.

Due to the continued growth of our Notting Hill Genesis (NHG) contract, we are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and reliable Garden Maintenance Supervisor to join our team working predominantly across Hounslow, Hillingdon and the surrounding West London area.

This is a hands-on supervisory role. You will work alongside your team carrying out garden and grounds maintenance while taking responsibility for the day-to-day organisation of the work, standards on site and communication with clients and residents.

We are looking for someone with good horticultural knowledge who takes pride in their work, can organise and motivate a small team and is confident dealing with clients face to face.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and work alongside the garden maintenance team.
  • Ensure sites are maintained to a consistently high horticultural standard.
  • Carry out general garden maintenance including pruning, planting, lawn care, border maintenance, hedge cutting and seasonal works.
  • Identify horticultural issues and ensure work is carried out at the correct time of year.
  • Use hand tools and powered horticultural equipment safely and effectively.
  • Organise the team's daily workload and ensure scheduled works are completed.
  • Train and support members of the team.
  • Complete site records and reports using GINKGO's own software.
  • Ensure company health and safety procedures are followed.
  • Work closely with your Contract Manager and report site issues or additional works required.
  • Build and maintain strong face-to-face relationships with clients, residents and site representatives.
  • Drive between sites as required as part of a two-week work rotation.

Experience & Requirements

Ideally, you will have:

  • A minimum of 2 years' professional horticultural or garden maintenance experience.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Horticulture or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Good plant knowledge and an understanding of seasonal garden maintenance.
  • Previous experience supervising or leading a small team.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • A professional and positive approach when dealing with clients and residents.
  • The ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
  • PA1 and PA6 certification would be desirable.
  • A full UK driving licence is essential.

Please do not apply unless you hold a full UK driving licence.

Working Hours & Pay

This is a permanent salaried position based on 37.5 paid hours per week throughout the year, with salary paid fortnightly (every two weeks).

As a horticultural business, GINKGO operates seasonal working hours. This means working shorter hours during the winter and longer hours during the main growing season, while your salary remains consistent throughout the year.

Our normal seasonal hours are:

  • December, January & February: 8:00am–3:00pm — 32.5 hours per week
  • March, April & November: 7:30am–3:30pm — 37.5 hours per week
  • May–October: 7:30am–4:00pm — 40 hours per week

All working days include a 30-minute unpaid break.

The working day starts at the first scheduled site.

What We Offer

  • £30,000–£33,000 salary, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Salary based on 37.5 paid hours per week throughout the year.
  • Paid fortnightly.
  • Seasonal working hours with shorter winter working days.
  • 28 days' holiday.
  • Company van, including travel to and from work.
  • Company phone.
  • Uniform and PPE.
  • Training and opportunities for further development.
  • Company social events.
  • Permanent, full-time employment.
  • Opportunities to progress within an established and growing horticultural business.

If you are an experienced gardener who enjoys taking responsibility for your work, leading a team and maintaining gardens to a high standard, we would like to hear from you.

Please apply with your CV and a short covering letter outlining your horticultural and supervisory experience.
