Job description

Oude Berg Guesthouse is looking for a reliable, practical and hardworking Groundskeeper / Maintenance Assistant to assist with the ongoing upkeep of our gardens, outdoor areas and property.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who takes pride in keeping a property neat, well maintained and presentable. The successful applicant should be comfortable working independently and carrying out a combination of gardening, groundskeeping and general maintenance duties.

Main responsibilities include:

• General garden maintenance and upkeep
• Mowing lawns, edging, weeding and pruning
• Maintaining flower beds, shrubs and outdoor areas
• Keeping pathways, patios, entrances and external areas clean and tidy
• Periodic painting and touch-ups to interior and exterior walls
• Preparing surfaces before painting
• Cleaning gutters and downpipes
• Sanding, preparing and maintaining wooden furniture and other surfaces
• Carrying out minor repairs and general property maintenance
• Assisting with the upkeep of doors, gates, fittings and outdoor furniture
• Identifying and reporting larger maintenance problems to management
• Looking after tools and keeping maintenance areas neat and organized
• Assisting with other practical maintenance tasks when required

Requirements:

• Previous experience in gardening, groundskeeping, handyman work or general property maintenance
• Practical experience with painting and basic repairs
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors
• Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
• Able to work independently and follow instructions
• Good attention to detail
• Willing to perform a variety of practical tasks
• Contactable references

Experience with irrigation systems, lawn care, painting, sanding, basic repairs and general property maintenance will be advantageous.
