Race Coast is seeking aGroundsman who will ensure the effective and efficient upkeep of the Greyville Racecourse environment, including common areas and stable areas. The Groundsman will provide general labour and maintenance support, assisting with all repair and maintenance tasks as required by management and in line with operational schedules.

What You'll Do

Upkeep of the Gardens and Grounds

· Mowing: Regular mowing of lawns, grass tracks, and other designated areas to maintain a neat and tidy appearance.

· Pruning: Prune plants, shrubs, and trees to ensure proper growth and aesthetic appeal.

· Trimming: Trim hedges, grass edges, and other plants to maintain a well-groomed environment.

· Watering: Water gardens, plants, and lawns, ensuring proper irrigation and care.

· Planting: Assist with the planting of flowers, shrubs, and other vegetation as needed.

· Weed Control & Mole Control: Regularly remove weeds and control any mole infestations to maintain the health of gardens and grounds

General Labour and Maintenance Support Duties

• Trenching and Irrigation Repairs: Assist with digging trenches and repairing irrigation systems or water pipes as needed.
• Rubble and Debris Removal: Clear debris, rubble, and litter from pathways, gardens, and common areas.
• Sweeping Roadways: Sweep and maintain cleanliness of roads, walkways, and other hard surfaces.
• Cement and Material Mixing: Mix and apply cement or other construction materials for repairs and maintenance work.
• Poles and Rails Repairs: Assist with the repair and maintenance of poles, rails, and fencing around training areas, tracks, and other facilities.
• Painting: Paint buildings, rails, stables, storerooms, and other structures to maintain a clean and professional appearance.
• Fire Safety: Assist with extinguishing small fires using beat flaps and other fire safety equipment when necessary.

· General Cleaning: Assist with the cleaning and maintenance of bins, waste areas, and other designated spaces as required.

What You’ll Need

· Grade 10

· Basic first aid training

· Valid and unendorsed driver’s license

· 1–2 years of experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, or general labour

· Experience working in agricultural, equestrian, or landscaping environments

· Familiarity with using outdoor tools and machinery (mowers, trimmers, Brush cutters, Blowers, Chain saws, etc.) is advantageous.
