Groundsman (Tree Surgery)

Job Summary

Ideal qualifications include:

• NPTC / City & Guilds CS30 – Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross‑Cutting
• Minimum requirement for anyone using a chainsaw at ground level.
• NPTC / City & Guilds CS31 – Felling & Processing Small Trees (up to 380mm)

Standard qualification for safe felling and dealing with hung‑up trees.

• Emergency First Aid at Work + Forestry (EFAW+F)

Required for forestry and arboriculture environments due to chainsaw and outdoor risks.We are seeking a proactive and diligent Groundsman specializing in Tree Surgery to join our dynamic grounds maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the care, maintenance, and safety of trees, shrubs, and landscaped areas across various outdoor environments. Your expertise will help ensure that green spaces remain healthy, aesthetically pleasing, and safe for the community. Duties

• Assist with the planting, pruning, and removal of trees and shrubs using appropriate hand tools and power equipment
• Operate machinery such as excavators and other ground maintenance vehicles safely and efficiently
• Follow safety protocols during all groundskeeping activities to prevent accidents or injuries

Skills

• Mechanical aptitude for operating and maintaining power tools, excavators, and irrigation systems
• Experience with hand tools such as pruners, saws, shovels, and hedge trimmers
• Construction experience related to groundskeeping or horticulture projects is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of horticulture principles to support healthy plant growth
• Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment and tools effectively
• Good physical stamina for outdoor work in varying weather conditions
• Basic gardening skills combined with a keen eye for detail in groundskeeping tasks

Pay: £110.00-£150.00 per day
