What they need

More than a racecourse - a place where it all comes to life.

Morphettville is where racing, events, and entertainment come together to create iconic experiences at one of South Australia’s most unique destinations, year-round.

As the home of the South Australian Jockey Club, we’re proud of our history and excited about what’s ahead. With racing across much of the year, a busy events calendar, and the award-winning Wolf Blass Event Centre, no two days look the same, and every day plays a part in bringing something big to life.

Guided by our values - Be Real, We Are One, We Create, We Own It - our Grounds team takes pride in delivering a venue that looks and performs at its best, every single day.

Now, we’re looking for a Groundsperson to join the team and help keep Morphettville’s tracks, grounds, and facilities in top condition.

Let’s start with why this role exists

Our venue is always in motion.

From early morning trackwork to major race days and large-scale events, everything we do relies on our grounds being safe, high-performing, and presented to the highest standard.

This role plays a key part in that.

You’ll be hands-on in maintaining our premium turf, gardens, and racing surfaces, helping ensure every race day and event runs as it should and looks the part.

You’ll be working as part of a passionate team from our brand-new, state-of-the-art maintenance and grounds facility, with the right tools, the right equipment, and a team that takes pride in the job.

What your days might look like

  • Carry out routine maintenance of racing surfaces, grounds, and facilities
  • Prepare tracks and move running rails for race days
  • Operate and maintain turf machinery and equipment
  • Apply fertilisers and treatments to maintain healthy, race-ready turf
  • Maintain gardens, lawns, and surrounding areas across the venue
  • Ensure the grounds are safe, clean, and presented to a high standard

Race days are where it all comes together - and you’ll be part of making that happen.

It’s a hands-on role where everyone pitches in, working together to deliver a venue that’s ready for racing, events, and everything in between.

You might see yourself here if you…

  • Enjoy working outdoors and being active throughout the day
  • Take pride in hands-on work and doing a job properly
  • Have a qualification in Sports Turf Management, Horticulture or a similar trade
  • Have experience in grounds, turf, greenkeeping, labouring, or similar roles
  • Work well in a team but can also get on with the job independently
  • Are reliable, practical, and willing to learn

Most importantly, you bring a strong work ethic and take ownership of your work.

What you’ll gain

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Be part of a team that delivers major race days and events
  • Work in a brand-new, purpose-built maintenance facility
  • Use quality equipment and tools suited to the job
  • Be part of a supportive, hardworking, and down-to-earth team
  • Contribute to one of Adelaide’s most recognised venues

Penalty rates apply for weekend work, including every second Saturday.

Let’s start the conversation

Join a venue that’s not only rich in history but recognised for excellence, including:

  • 2025 Winner – SA Caterer of the Year
  • 2025 SA & National Event/Convention Centre Caterer
  • 2025 Clubs SA Best Function/Event Venue
  • 2025 Racing SA Most Outstanding Achievement by a Club
  • 2025 Barkuma Employer Award

If you’re looking for a hands-on role where your work makes a visible difference and you enjoy being part of a team that brings big days to life - we’d love to hear from you.

Apply via SEEK and tell us a bit about your experience and why this role interests you.

Other offers great for you!
