Group Accountant

Our client is a growing, multi-entity group with 15 businesses across several verticals, including 4 UK entities, With a strong manufacturing presence and an ambitious central finance function, they’re now looking to add a Group Accountant to strengthen group reporting, consolidation and financial control.

Reporting directly to the Group Finance Director, you’ll work closely with the CFO and the finance teams across each entity.

This is a hands-on, varied role with real ownership. You’ll own the group cashflow forecast, group costs and the UK statutory accounts process, and play a key part in the monthly consolidation, audit and tax.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐥𝐥 𝐠𝐞𝐭

• Salary of £52,000 – £56,000
• Office-based 5 days a week during probation, then one day a week working from home

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠

• Supporting the monthly group consolidation: P&L, balance sheet and cashflow at entity and vertical/segment level
• Working with entity finance teams to understand and document variances to budget and forecast
• Preparing the group intercompany matrix and reconciling all trading and non-trading balances in detail
• Owning group costs and making sure they’re accurate across the group
• Owning the 13-week rolling cashflow forecast, consolidating entity forecasts weekly and reviewing them with entity teams and the CFO
• Controlling intercompany balances, including monthly recoverability assessments and the impact on funding via external loans or dividends
• Preparing group audit schedules and supporting the disclosure notes for the group statutory accounts
• Owning the UK statutory accounts process across 4 UK entities
• Supporting group tax computations, including analysis of tax-sensitive items
• Making sure all entities follow group accounting policies and report under FRS 102
• Leading monthly and quarterly balance sheet reviews with entities
• Providing financial guidance to entity finance teams in line with Group Finance objectives

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
• 1 to 3 years’ experience in management accounting and/or group reporting
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence picking up new finance systems and digital processes
• Manufacturing experience is preferred
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data and cost structures
• High attention to detail, with a focus on accurate and reliable reporting
• Excellent communication skills, including explaining financial information to non-finance stakeholders
• Strong time management, with the ability to juggle priorities and hit tight deadlines
