What they need

About Clearer Group
Clearer Group builds the financial infrastructure that helps businesses trade across borders, from payments and FX to trade finance and procurement. With operations in Nigeria, Canada and the UAE, and new markets on the horizon, we’re growing fast and building it right. Integrity sits at the heart of everything we do.

What We are Looking For
A principled, tech-savvy compliance and risk professional who can build one compliance and risk framework that works across several countries and very different businesses. You know Nigerian regulation inside out, you’re comfortable learning new regimes quickly, and you can help us enter new markets the right way.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design and run a group-wide AML/CFT/CPF programme covering KYC/KYB, customer risk rating, transaction monitoring and sanctions screening, adapted to each country
  • Keep ClearerPay compliant with CBN, SEC, NFIU and Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) requirements
  • Oversee compliance for our Canadian MSB, including FINTRAC reporting and record-keeping obligations, working with our Canadian compliance officer and advisers
  • Support compliance and licensing for our UAE operations under UAE AML/CFT rules and the relevant regulators
  • Oversee regulatory, anti-bribery and reporting compliance for our Nigerian mining operations, including obligations under the Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act and NEITI
  • File regulatory returns (STRs, CTRs and others) in each jurisdiction accurately and on time
  • Review high-risk clients, new products, partners and cross-border deals before approval
  • Build and maintain the group risk register, and monitor FX, counterparty, operational, virtual-asset and country risks
  • Lead regulatory examinations and audits, and close findings on time
  • Carry out compliance due diligence for new market entries and licence applications
  • Train staff across all entities and advise teams day to day
  • Stay abreast of local and international regulation, including FATF standards and digital-asset rules

What You Must Have

  • 5–8 years’ experience in compliance or risk within fintech, banking, payments or financial services
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian AML/CFT regulation (CBN, SEC, NFIU) and global standards (FATF)
  • Experience managing compliance across more than one country or entity
  • CAMS, ICA or FRM certification
  • Hands-on experience with transaction monitoring and screening tools
  • Proactive, detail-oriented and commercially aware
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Integrity, accountability and a team-first mindset
  • Willingness to travel

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Canadian (FINTRAC) or UAE AML regimes
  • Experience in a PSP, IMTO, MSB or VASP
  • Exposure to compliance in mining or extractives
  • Experience supporting licence applications in new markets

Pay: ₦800,000.00 - ₦1,000,000.00 per month

Application Question(s):

  • How many years have you worked in a compliance or risk role in financial services?
  • Do you hold CAMS, ICA or FRM certification?
  • Have you personally filed STRs or other regulatory returns with the NFIU, CBN or SEC?
  • Have you managed compliance for more than one country or entity? If yes, which?
  • Have you ever been sanctioned by a regulator, or dismissed or asked to resign over a compliance or integrity matter?
  • Are you willing to travel to Canada, the UAE and other markets as needed?
