Company Description:

Our publicly traded aerospace manufacturer is seeking a strong Group Controller. Reporting to the General Manager, this role will lead the accounting and controllership function while partnering closely with executive and operational leadership. This position plays a key role in driving financial reporting integrity, internal controls, and compliance for a rapidly growing defense contractor, offering high visibility and the opportunity to influence strategic and operational decision-making. The ideal candidate must have manufacturing experience, a CPA certification, and SOX compliance experience.

Responsibilities:

• Lead all accounting operations and financial reporting for the business unit, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and GAAP compliance
• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including consolidated reporting packages
• Direct budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and cash flow management activities
• Own and maintain a strong internal controls environment in accordance with SOX requirements
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, FAR, DFARS, tax, and other applicable regulatory requirements
• Lead all external audit activities and manage relationships with auditors and outside advisors
• Partner with executive leadership to evaluate business performance and support strategic decision-making
• Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance and accounting organization
• Drive improvements to financial systems, processes, and reporting infrastructure
• Present financial results, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership
• Support cost accounting, contract compliance, and government-contracting reporting requirements
• Serve as a key finance business partner across operations and cross-functional teams
• Evaluate and strengthen scalability of finance operations to support continued company growth

Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other relevant field required
• CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification
• 8–12+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience
• Aerospace & Defense or Government Contracting industry experience is highly desired
• Strong working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and DoD contracting requirements
• SOX compliance experience required
• ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or NetSuite)
• Strong executive presence with proven experience partnering with senior leadership
