Group Engineering Manager

Purpose of the Role
To ensure the proper design, implementation and maintenance of equipment and building facilities of Amaro Foods by implementing proper systems in line with all legislation and industry standards.

Main Tasks/Responsibilities

• Develop maintenance strategies for equipment across the group
• Managing the development of technical engineering strategies, documents, contracts, processes and specifications to ensure quality, consistency and efficiency in all technical engineering activities.
• Strategic design and implementation of a facilities and equipment plan for the division, managing change through close working relationships with internal site teams whilst efficiently utilizing all resources to meet customer, company, legislative requirements and to drive a culture of continuous improvement
• Responsible for tactics and strategy of Asset Care across the group
• Responsible for the data/report analysis from CMMS
• Provide relevant monthly reporting
• Identifying and delivering continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the machine efficiencies
• Managing projects, major repairs, machine installations
• Ensure maintenance resources are being used effectively
• Reporting on engineering and maintenance to the CEO and executive team
• Escalation when necessary to CEO or respective departmental head
• Over inspections of plants and equipment to ensure maintenance is being done effectively
• Responsible for 5S Implementation
• Responsible for managing Capex projects
• Ensure machine design will work effectively in production in our environment and our requirements.
• Assist NPD with new products to ensure machines can run the product as efficiently as possible
• Continuous improvement across the plants and from capex project to capex project
• Assist with items escalated by the maintenance managers where more expertise, assistance or speed is required
• Discuss and review equipment layout project specifications
• Achieve and maintain equipment efficiencies according to industry standards by measuring and achieving OEE targets
• Ensuring preventative maintenance schedules are properly implemented according to equipment requirements
• Manage and ensure the maintenance system is properly implemented, utilized and adhered to (DMS)
• Establish turnaround times for maintenance queries and repairs and ensure adherence thereto
• Compiling and manage group maintenance budget taking in to account maintenance strategy and future engineering
• Approve or get approval for exceptions that have not been budgeted for
• Manage the preparation, review and approval of feasibility studies, designs, costings and technical contract terms and conditions
• Identification of cost saving opportunities and initiatives for equipment and applying best practices throughout the group
• Manage maintenance managers in conjunction with the GMs on each site
• Manage maintenance team performance
• Manage maintenance planner and their outputs
• Maintain a project list for the team that is delegated and on track to meet their deadlines.
• Provide input and feedback from performance reviews and assist in improving staff's performance
• Provide input into job descriptions and duties
• Schedule staff leave and maintain staff records
• Supervise, teach and motivate the team
• Take responsibility for staff work outputs, induction and
• Compare Project Feasibility to Actual Outcome to identify short comings and achievements
• Comply with the necessary Occupational Health and Safety requirements
• Ensure compliance to all food safety regulations, allergen control, housekeeping and pest control
• Ensuring all maintenance contractors comply with Amaro Food Standards and policies
• Manage insurance requirements and ensure building and machines comply

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in relevant engineering field
• 5+ years maintenance management experience
• 6-8 years’ relevant experience
• FMCG industry experience
• Project Management
