As a Group Exercise Instructor at the Bob Hoffman Dover YMCA, you’ll turn workout time into a high-energy, confidence-building experience—while keeping Safety front and center. This part-time role (evenings/weekends) pays $12–$14/hour and exists to help members move better, feel stronger, and stay motivated.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead safe, effective group exercise instruction with clear coaching and smart options for all levels
• Design and deliver engaging classes informed by current wellness trends
• Set up, check, and maintain equipment; flag any facility or risk concerns promptly
• Create welcoming participant connections and keep accurate attendance records
• Start and end classes on time; follow emergency procedures and complete incident reports as needed

Required qualifications/skills:

• CPR/AED/First Aid certification before teaching
• Group fitness class design/delivery skills and strong participant engagement
• Comfort with safety and risk management, plus reliable record-keeping

When class kicks off, you read the crowd, keep momentum high, and make sure everyone feels seen—newcomers included. Between sessions, you reset the space, jot down attendance, and connect people to what’s next at the Y. Weekend shifts bring a different rhythm: a steady stream of familiar faces, fresh first-timers, and that satisfying finish when the last track ends and the room feels electric.
