What they need
Group Facilitator – Substance Use Disorder / Recovery Program
Morning & Afternoon Groups | CPRS or Higher Required
Saddle Brook Counseling Center is looking for a dynamic, engaging Group Facilitator to lead morning and afternoon groups within our substance use disorder treatment program.
We are not looking for someone who simply reads from a worksheet and watches the clock. We want someone who can command a room, connect with clients, challenge unhealthy thinking, and create meaningful conversations around recovery and real-life change.
What You’ll Do
- Facilitate engaging, structured recovery-focused groups
- Create discussion around accountability, relapse prevention, relationships, life skills, emotional regulation, recovery principles, and personal growth
- Encourage participation while maintaining appropriate boundaries and group structure
- Help clients connect treatment concepts to their everyday lives
- Work collaboratively with our clinical and recovery-support team
- Maintain required group documentation in a timely and professional manner
- Bring energy, authenticity, and consistency to the program
Minimum Qualifications
- CPRS (Certified Peer Recovery Specialist) or higher credential REQUIRED
- Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders
- Strong communication and group facilitation skills
- Ability to appropriately manage different personalities and challenging group dynamics
- Reliable, professional, and comfortable working as part of a team
Highly Preferred
- Strong familiarity with 12-Step recovery
- Personal or professional experience within the recovery community
- Experience facilitating groups in an IOP, outpatient, residential, sober-living, or other behavioral-health setting
- Understanding of recovery beyond the clinical setting — meetings, sponsorship, accountability, community, and rebuilding a life in recovery
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal person is relatable but professional, compassionate but direct, and comfortable holding people accountable.
You should be able to walk into a room and get people talking. We value facilitators who understand that effective groups don’t have to feel like lectures — they can be honest, interactive, challenging, and even fun while still having a clear therapeutic/recovery purpose.
Schedule: Morning and/or afternoon hoursPosition: Group FacilitatorMinimum Credential: CPRS or higher
If recovery work means something to you and you believe you can make an impact in a group setting, we’d like to hear from you.
