Group Facilitator / Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)

Alpha Omega Treatment Centers | Phoenix, AZ

Location: Outpatient / Intensive Outpatient (OP/IOP) Clinic
Position: Group Facilitator / BHT

About Alpha Omega Treatment Centers

Alpha Omega Treatment Centers is a behavioral health organization serving individuals experiencing substance use disorders, mental health challenges, and co-occurring conditions.

We offer a continuum of care that includes Outpatient (OP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), Sober Living, Psychiatric Services, Individual Therapy, and Residential Behavioral Health Services.

Our mission is to provide compassionate, structured, and recovery-focused treatment while helping individuals develop the skills necessary for long-term stability, independence, and success.

We are looking for an experienced, dependable, and motivated Group Facilitator to join our OP/IOP clinical team.

Job Overview

This position is ideal for someone who has hands-on experience facilitating behavioral health and substance abuse recovery groups and understands the importance of maintaining a structured, therapeutic environment.

Previous experience facilitating groups is REQUIRED. We are looking for someone who can confidently lead groups, engage clients, manage challenging behaviors, and deliver meaningful educational and therapeutic programming.

The ideal candidate understands substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, professional boundaries, and the importance of accurate clinical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate daily group sessions for clients participating in our OP/IOP programs, covering substance abuse recovery, mental health, relapse prevention, coping skills, emotional regulation, life skills, and related topics.
  • Develop engaging group discussions and activities using approved curriculum, motivational interviewing, psychoeducation, and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Maintain a structured, respectful, and therapeutic group environment while encouraging client participation and accountability.
  • Complete accurate, detailed, and timely group progress notes and other required documentation within our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Ensure documentation reflects services provided, client participation, treatment goals, and individual progress.
  • Recognize behavioral concerns, signs of relapse, and potential crisis situations, reporting concerns to appropriate clinical personnel.
  • Collaborate with therapists, behavioral health professionals, case managers, and other team members to support continuity of care.
  • Reinforce program expectations, professional boundaries, confidentiality, and appropriate client behavior.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, clinical oversight, and ongoing professional development.
  • Support additional program activities and client needs as assigned within the employee's training and scope of responsibility.

Required Qualifications

Applicants MUST meet the following requirements:

  • Previous experience facilitating behavioral health, mental health, or substance abuse recovery groups. This is a mandatory requirement.
  • Valid Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC).
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Experience with clinical documentation, group progress notes, and Electronic Medical Record (EMR/EHR) systems.
  • Working knowledge of substance use disorders, mental health conditions, and co-occurring disorders.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, client confidentiality, professional boundaries, and behavioral health documentation standards.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and group management skills.
  • Ability to maintain consistent attendance, punctuality, and professional conduct.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in an OP/IOP treatment setting.
  • Experience working as a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT).
  • Knowledge of ASAM criteria and treatment planning.
  • Familiarity with motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, CBT-informed skills, and trauma-informed care.
  • Experience supporting individuals in early recovery.
  • CPR/BLS certification and crisis prevention or de-escalation training.

What We're Looking For

We want someone who genuinely enjoys working with people in recovery and understands that effective group facilitation involves much more than reading from a curriculum.

Our ideal candidate is confident leading a room, encourages meaningful discussion, maintains appropriate boundaries, and knows how to balance compassion with accountability.

Reliability, professionalism, and documentation accuracy are essential to this position.

Join Our Team

At Alpha Omega Treatment Centers, we believe recovery requires consistency, accountability, compassion, and a strong support system.

We are committed to building a team of professionals who take pride in their work and understand the impact they have on the individuals we serve.

If you have the required experience, enjoy facilitating groups, and want to be part of a growing behavioral health organization, we encourage you to apply.
