What they need
The role
Racquet Group is looking for a hands-on Group Finance Manager to own the financial function across our group of entities. You'll be the directors' right hand on all things finance:running a tight month-end across multiple venues and entities, building the forecasting and reporting that guides our expansion, managing cash and funding, and putting the systems and controls in place for a business scaling quickly.
This is a role for someone who is equally comfortable reconciling a bank account and presenting a site investment case — and who wants to build a finance function from the ground up.
Key responsibilities
Financial reporting and control
- Own month-end close and deliver accurate monthly management accounts for each venue, entity and the consolidated group
- Prepare consolidated group reporting, including inter company reconciliations and eliminations
- Produce clear monthly board and director packs with commentary on performance, variances and key risks
- Develop venue-level KPI reporting (court utilisation, revenue per court, membership, coaching, F&B, labour as a % of revenue)
- Maintain a strong internal control environment, including approvals ,delegations of authority and reconciliations
Budgeting, forecasting and modelling
- Lead the annual budget process and maintain rolling forecasts at venue and group level
- Own and evolve the group financial model, including venue ramp profiles, capex and financing
- Build business cases and feasibility models for new sites, leases and major investments
- Track actual performance of new venues against their investment case and report on returns
Cash, treasury and funding
- Manage group cash flow, including a rolling 13-week cash forecast
- Manage relationships and reporting with lenders and financiers, including covenant monitoring and compliance
- Support capital raising, debt financing and investor reporting as the business expands
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable, supplier payment runs and sponsorship revenue collection
Capex and venue development
- Track and control capex for venue construction and fit-out projects, including builder progress claims, variations and retentions
- Work with project managers and the directors to keep developments on budget
- Support lease negotiations with financial analysis and manage lease accounting and obligations
Compliance, tax and governance
- Manage BAS/GST, PAYG, FBT and payroll tax across NSW, ACT and QLD
- Oversee payroll, ensuring compliance with relevant modern awards, superannuation obligations and casual employment requirements
- Coordinate year-end, statutory financial statements and income tax with external accountants and auditors
- Maintain insurance, corporate registers and entity compliance across the group
Systems and process
- Own the finance tech stack (Xero and integrated booking, POS, payroll and expense systems) and drive automation
- Standardise processes so new venues can be onboarded quickly and consistently Improve the integration between booking/POS data and the general ledger for accurate, timely revenue reporting
Leadership and stakeholders
- Act as a trusted adviser to the directors, Group Manager and venue managers
- Build financial literacy among venue managers so they own their P&L
- Build and lead the finance team as the business grows
- Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, banks, financiers and key suppliers
Key performance indicators
- Management accounts delivered by working day [8] each month
- Accuracy of forecasts against actuals at venue and group level
- Covenant and lodgement compliance with zero missed deadlines
- Venue development projects delivered within approved capex budgets
- Clean year-end and audit outcomes
- Measurable improvements in process efficiency and reporting automation
About you
- CA or CPA qualified, with 5+ years' post-qualification experience
- Multi-entity and consolidation experience in a growing business
- Strong financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting skills
- Experience managing lender relationships and covenant reporting
- Advanced Xero and Excel skills
- Solid knowledge of Australian tax, payroll and award compliance
- Hands-on, self-starting approach — comfortable in a lean, fast-moving team
Desirable
- Experience in hospitality, leisure, fitness, sport or other multi-site businesses
- Exposure to construction or fit-out capex and progress claim management
- Experience supporting capital raising or investor reporting
- Experience implementing finance systems or automation
