What they need

Group Financial Controller – Renewable Energy & Infrastructure

Sydney CBD | Hybrid working environment

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Group Financial Controller to join a leading renewable energy business with a significant portfolio of energy generation and storage projects across Australia.

Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a broad senior finance leadership role with responsibility across Group financial reporting, consolidations, financial control, FP&A, tax and audit, together with exposure to project finance, debt facilities and lender reporting.

The role will work closely with the CFO, senior management and project teams across a portfolio of major projects spanning development, financing, construction and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and delivery of monthly, quarterly and annual Group financial reporting, and statutory requirements.
  • Oversee Group consolidations, month-end and year-end close processes and preparation of statutory financial statements.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning, providing meaningful financial analysis and insights to senior management.
  • Oversee accounting policies and technical accounting matters relating to complex transactions, project structures, financing arrangements and corporate activities.
  • Manage cash flow, liquidity forecasting, treasury and banking arrangements.
  • Take ownership of project debt reporting, lender reporting, covenant compliance and debt servicing requirements.
  • Support the CFO across project finance facilities, refinancing, equity funding and other financing transactions, working closely with lenders and external advisers.
  • Lead the external audit process, statutory financial statement preparation and Group tax compliance.
  • Maintain a strong financial control and governance environment while driving improvements across finance systems, reporting, automation, processes and data quality.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Experience within a Group Financial Controller, Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar senior finance, or divisional lead role.
  • Strong hands-on experience across Group reporting, consolidations and statutory financial statement preparation.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of Australian Accounting Standards / IFRS.
  • Experience across debt reporting, project finance, lender reporting, covenant compliance and/or debt facilities.
  • Previous experience within Energy, Resources, Infrastructure or a closely related project-based sector.
  • Demonstrated experience improving financial controls, reporting processes and finance systems.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior management, project teams, lenders, auditors and external advisers.
  • A hands-on and practical approach, with the ability to move comfortably between detailed financial matters and broader commercial issues.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to step into a highly visible Group-level finance leadership role, reporting directly to the CFO within an established renewable energy business operating across major energy and infrastructure projects.

The position offers a particularly broad remit across Group Finance and project finance, providing exposure to senior management, lenders, project teams and complex financing activities.

Based in Sydney CBD, the business offers a flexible hybrid working environment with three days in the office and two days working remotely, together with a competitive remuneration package.

Candidates with experience across Energy, Resources, Infrastructure or closely related sectors, coupled with strong Group reporting, consolidations, financial statement preparation and project finance/debt reporting experience, are strongly encouraged to apply.
