What they need
Group Head Chef
We’re on the lookout for a positive, ambitious Group Head Chef to lead the kitchens across our growing Lancashire hospitality group. Our flagship, Out Lane Social, is a place where thoughtful, seasonal food meets relaxed fine dining, proudly listed in the Good Food Guide 2024 and 2025. Alongside it sit our other venues, each with its own character, its own audience and its own menu. We’ve got big ideas and bold plans, and we need someone to lead the food side of all of it.
This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of the culinary direction of a whole group, shape the kitchens and the people in them, and build something that’s already turning heads into something bigger.
About Us
We’re an independent hospitality group with venues across Lancashire, united by a love of seasonal food, great drink, warm hospitality and relaxed, stylish dining. Each venue has its own identity, from relaxed fine dining to proper, honest pub food and pizza, and we’re proud of all of them. With exciting plans for expansion, now is the perfect time to join our journey and help lead it.
Who We’re Looking For
Let’s be upfront. We’re not looking for a Head Chef who wants to run one pass and go home. We’re looking for a leader who’s genuinely excited to break the mould: positive, ambitious, commercially sharp and buzzing at the idea of shaping the food, the teams and the culture across several very different kitchens.
If you want to protect what you already know and keep things ticking over, that’s absolutely fine, but this probably isn’t the role for you. If you read that and thought “that’s me”, keep reading.
We’re seeking someone who:
- Has a strong track record as a Head Chef or Executive Chef, ideally with rosette-level or multi-site experience
- Brings a positive, can-do attitude and leads from the front, even on the tough services
- Is a natural developer of people, with a passion for training, mentoring and growing chefs at every level
- Has real commercial understanding and is comfortable owning kitchen budgets, GP, labour, spend and waste
- Brings creativity to menu development, specials, tasting evenings and special events across different styles of venue
- Has strong organisational and communication skills and can juggle several kitchens without dropping standards
- Is passionate about exceptional produce, flavour and presentation
- Is flexible, mobile across our venues, and has weekend, evening and bank holiday availability when the business needs it
What You’ll Be Doing
- Overseeing the culinary teams at every venue in the group, working closely with each Head Chef and Sous Chef to deliver consistent, high-quality food
- Setting the creative direction and leading the development of seasonal menus, specials and new concepts tailored to each venue
- Designing and delivering chef training and development across the group, building a strong pipeline of talent
- Leading on special events, private dining, tasting evenings, feature cooking on the terrace, aged cuts and chef-led tableside moments
- Owning kitchen budgeting across the group: labour planning, purchasing and supplier relationships, GP targets, stock control and waste reduction
- Maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, organisation, food safety and compliance in every kitchen
- Working with the ownership team on growth plans, new openings and the long-term food strategy for the group
- Being the driving force behind our push for rosette-level recognition
What’s In It For You
- Competitive salary reflecting a senior, group-wide role
- Company pension
- Free or discounted meals across the group
- Employee discounts across all our venues
- Free on-site parking
- Genuine autonomy to shape the food direction of a growing brand
- A seat at the table as the group expands, with the chance to grow with it
How to Apply
If you’re ready to lead, build and bring your creativity and energy to a group that values ideas, produce and people, we’d love to hear from you. If you’re not, no hard feelings, but please don’t apply.
