Program Director – IB Level Group Home

Position Title: Program Director
Reports To: Executive Director/Agency Administrator
Employment Type: Part-Time, Exempt

Position Summary

The Program Director is responsible for the overall management, supervision, and daily operations of an Intensive Behavioral (IB) Level Group Home. This role ensures that all residents receive high-quality, individualized services in a safe, therapeutic, and person-centered environment. The Program Director oversees compliance with state regulations, agency policies, Medicaid waiver requirements, and accreditation standards.

Key Responsibilities

Program Oversight & Compliance

• Ensure the group home operates in accordance with state licensing requirements, Medicaid waiver regulations, and agency policies.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized service plans (ISPs) for residents in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
• Ensure proper documentation, data collection, and reporting are maintained for audits and compliance reviews.
• Oversee crisis management and implement behavior intervention strategies in line with IB level requirements.

Staff Leadership & Supervision

• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and other team members.
• Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and disciplinary action when necessary.
• Ensure staff maintain fidelity to residents’ Behavior Plans, treatment goals, and daily routines.
• Facilitate ongoing professional development and training in areas such as ABA strategies, crisis prevention, trauma-informed care, and medication administration.

Resident Care & Support

• Advocate for the rights, safety, and well-being of all residents.
• Monitor and support residents’ behavioral, medical, educational, and social needs.
• Collaborate with clinicians, therapists, guardians, and support coordinators to ensure holistic care.
• Lead team meetings to review progress, challenges, and adjustments to treatment plans.

Administrative Duties

• Manage program budget, staffing schedules, and resources.
• Maintain accurate incident reports, staff documentation, and progress notes.
• Coordinate with external providers (healthcare, mental health, schools, community programs).
• Report regularly to senior leadership on program performance, challenges, and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory experience in group home, residential, or behavioral health settings; IB or high-behavioral-needs experience strongly preferred.

• Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong understanding of applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles and crisis intervention techniques.
• • Familiarity with Medicaid waiver programs, HCBS, and state regulations.
• • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-intensity environment.

• Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license, CPR/First Aid certification, and crisis prevention/intervention certification (e.g., CPI, PCM, or equivalent).

Work Environment

• On-call responsibilities as needed for emergencies.
• Requires flexibility, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
• Combination of office and direct care responsibilities within the group home.
