What they need

Our music school is looking for enthusiastic, creative, and engaging music instructors to lead group music programs for children in community and educational settings.

This is an exciting opportunity for instructors who enjoy working with groups and want to create a fun, interactive, and engaging introduction to music for young learners.

About the Program

This is not a traditional one-on-one lesson program. Instructors will lead an interactive group music experience introducing students to a variety of musical concepts and activities, which may include:

  • Music theory and foundational concepts
  • Rhythm, movement, and musical activities
  • Music history, composers, and genres
  • Instruments and musical exploration
  • Singing and songwriting
  • Keyboard activities
  • Musical games and challenges
  • Group music-making and collaboration

Students may vary in age, musical experience, and ability, so instructors should be comfortable adapting activities to meet the needs of the group.

General Program Structure

The program will generally include a combination of:

  • Welcome activities, warm-ups, rhythm and movement
  • Music theory and foundational concepts
  • Music history, composers, genres and instruments
  • Singing, songwriting and/or keyboard activities
  • Musical games, challenges and group activities

The program structure is intended as a general framework rather than a strict lesson plan. Instructors are encouraged to use their creativity and adapt activities based on the students' ages, abilities, interests and level of engagement.

  • Encourage participation, confidence and teamwork

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in music, music education, education, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Previous music teaching experience is required
  • Proficiency in at least one musical instrument
