GT 888 Mall - Housekeeping Staff (BACOLOD)

JOB SUMMARY

The Housekeeping Staff is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall presentable condition of the mall premises, including common areas, restrooms, walkways, and other assigned zones. This role ensures that the mall environment is safe, clean, and welcoming for shoppers, tenants, and visitors at all times, performing routine and on-call cleaning tasks in accordance with the mall's housekeeping standards and schedules.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Cleaning & Sanitation

• Perform regular cleaning of assigned areas, including common areas, corridors, atriums, entrances, elevators, escalators, parking areas, and other public spaces within the mall.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms and comfort rooms on a regular schedule, ensuring adequate supply of tissue, soap, and other consumables at all times.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, polish, and dust floors, walls, fixtures, glass surfaces, and furniture within assigned zones according to the housekeeping schedule and standards.
• Collect and dispose of trash and waste materials from bins throughout the mall, following proper waste segregation and disposal procedures.
• Clean up spills, stains, and other incidental messes promptly to maintain a safe and presentable environment.

Equipment & Supplies Handling

• Properly use, handle, and maintain cleaning equipment and tools (mops, buffers, vacuum cleaners, scrubbers) in good working condition.
• Monitor and report the need for replenishment of cleaning supplies and consumables to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
• Ensure proper storage and safekeeping of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and supplies in designated areas.

Safety & Compliance

• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and in accordance with proper handling procedures and safety guidelines.
• Set up and remove caution/wet floor signage when performing cleaning tasks in high-traffic or public areas to prevent accidents.
• Report any safety hazards, maintenance issues, or damaged facilities/fixtures observed during rounds to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Operations team.
• Observe proper hygiene and grooming standards while on duty, particularly when working in public-facing areas.

Customer Service & Coordination

• Maintain a courteous and helpful demeanor when encountering shoppers, tenants, or visitors, assisting with basic inquiries or directing them to appropriate personnel when needed.
• Coordinate with the Housekeeping Supervisor and other mall operations personnel (security, engineering/facilities) regarding cleaning schedules, special events, and area-specific concerns.
• Support additional cleaning requirements during mall events, promotions, or peak shopping periods.
• Perform other housekeeping and related tasks as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor or Operations Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• At least High School Graduate; completion of a vocational course in Housekeeping or a related field is an advantage.

Experience

• Prior experience in housekeeping, janitorial services, or general cleaning is an advantage but not required; fresh applicants with a strong work ethic may be considered.
• Experience working in a mall, commercial establishment, or similar high-traffic public facility is a plus.

Knowledge Requirements

• Basic knowledge of proper cleaning methods, use of cleaning chemicals, and equipment handling.
• Basic awareness of workplace safety practices relevant to cleaning and sanitation work.

Skills & Attributes

• Physically fit and able to perform manual and repetitive tasks, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow cleaning schedules and instructions consistently.
• Good personal hygiene and grooming, given the public-facing nature of the work.
• Basic communication skills, with a courteous and respectful attitude toward shoppers, tenants, and colleagues.
• Willing to work on a shifting schedule, including weekends and holidays, in line with mall operating hours.
• Attentive to detail and takes pride in maintaining a clean and presentable environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Mall-based, requiring physical presence and mobility across various zones of the property throughout the shift.
• Involves physical activity such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting, as well as exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Requires flexibility in schedule, including shifting hours, weekends, and holidays, in line with mall operating hours and peak periods.
• May require additional workload support during special events, promotions, or high-traffic periods.
