GTM Engineer

Appear helps brands get cited by AI: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Gemini. We're growing, our customer base is growing, and we need someone who can make sure that growth compounds. This role owns what happens after the contract is signed.

Context

AI search is moving fast. So is our clients' understanding of it. When a brand signs with Appear, they're often at the start of a journey. They don't yet know how to read their AI visibility data, how to translate it into content decisions, or how much is at stake.

Design, build, and scale every commercial outreach channel we use (email, LinkedIn, cold call infra, direct mail, and new channels as they emerge) as systematic, repeatable infrastructure, not one-off campaigns.

• Build your own web crawlers and scrapers to source prospects from various verticals, monitor buying signals (hiring, funding, tech-stack changes, job changes, intent data), and pull in data points off-the-shelf tools don't cover.
• Turn captured signals into automated triggers that feed the right outreach, to the right prospect, at the right moment across all of our concurrent GTM motions.
• Build and run reactivation, win-back, and re-engagement campaigns targeting dormant leads, lapsed customers, and stalled pipeline.
• Write the scripts, workflows, and integrations (Python, APIs, webhooks) that connect crawlers, enrichment, and outbound tooling into one pipeline-generation system.
• Use AI to personalize outreach at scale from message generation to prioritization without turning it into spam.
• Instrument every channel and campaign (deliverability, reply rates, meetings booked, pipeline generated) and use the data to decide what to scale, fix, or kill.
• Partner with Sales and Marketing to identify untapped audiences and signals worth chasing, then build the system that chases them automatically.

2-5+ years in a GTM Engineering, Growth Engineering, or technical outbound/demand-gen role, building outreach systems rather than just running them.

• Track record of building outbound channels, signal-capture systems, or reactivation campaigns from the ground up, not just executing playbooks someone else designed.
• Strong scripting/programming ability (Python and/or JavaScript), comfortable owning something end to end without a team of engineers behind you.
• Real experience building web crawlers/scrapers (e.g., Scrapy, Playwright, BeautifulSoup) to source leads or signals at scale, mindful of rate limits and ToS.
• Comfort working with REST APIs, webhooks, and sales engagement/outbound tooling to wire independent tools into one system.
• Practical experience using AI tools and/or LLM APIs to personalize outreach, extract signals, or automate parts of the pipeline-generation workflow.
• Analytical mindset & system-thinking. Comfortable digging into channel and campaign data to know what's working before you scale it.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment with ambiguous, evolving requirements and multiple GTM motions running at once.
