JOB TITLE: Security Guard I

OVERVIEW OF POSITION: The Security Guard I at Potomac House is responsible for providing security and protection to employees and residents of the Residential Reentry Center. The Security Guard I shall work cooperatively with program staff at all levels to ensure the quality of service by performing hourly inspections of the building and immediate building exterior and documenting/reporting any incidents as required.

Duties include:

· Conduct roves to inspect the building and adjacent grounds to ensure a clean, safe, and secure space for residents and staff. Note any unusual appearance or deviation from normal operations.

· Screen residents and guests entering the building. Enforce sign-in and sign-out procedures, conduct pat searches, and inspect bags and other items as needed. Monitor cameras and other electronic security devices used to monitor residents within the facility and residents on Home Confinement.

· Aid visitors by answering questions and providing directions. Escort visitors within the facility as needed.

· Ensure residents adhere to the rules and regulations of the facility. Respond to reports of resident misconduct and document. De-escalate situations and report accurate pertinent information to appropriate Case Managers and supervisory senior staff.

· Maintain daily activity log of incidents and prepare reports of incidents. Assist with security assessment information and data collection.

· Conduct vehicle inspections for Home Confinement clients and facilitate the collection of urine specimens for drug testing.

· Other related duties as determined.

Qualifications

· Possess a high school diploma or equivalency; collegiate academic coursework or an AA/AS degree, preferable.

· Security Guard, Special Police Officer License preferred.

· Minimum of one (1) year of experience in law enforcement, or security or a combination of both.

· Possess a current “CPR/First Aid” card issued by the American Red Cross or equivalent.
