Guidance Counselor and Student Completion Coordinator

The Guidance Counselor and Student Completion Coordinator is responsible for providing counseling and student support services that promote student well-being, retention, and successful completion of their education. The role provides guidance and interventions for students facing personal, academic, emotional, and financial challenges that may affect their progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, or any related field.
• Preferably a Registered Guidance Counselor (RGC)
• Preferably with relevant experience in guidance and counseling, student services, student retention, or other related functions in an educational institution.
• Knowledgeable in counseling, student case management, referral processes, and student intervention programs.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage students, parents, faculty, and other stakeholders.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential student information with professionalism and discretion.
• Organized and capable of managing multiple student cases, programs, records, and administrative responsibilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace applications.
• Demonstrates empathy, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to student welfare, development, retention, and success.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide individual and group counseling to students experiencing academic, personal, emotional, or financial concerns.
2. Identify, monitor, and provide appropriate interventions for students who are at risk of dropping out or discontinuing their studies.
3. Conduct interviews and counseling sessions with students who intend to withdraw, transfer, or discontinue their enrollment.
4. Manage student referral cases and ensure proper documentation, coordination, and follow-up of interventions.
5. Conduct and coordinate Home Visitation activities for students requiring additional intervention and support.
6. Manage and monitor student retention and completion initiatives, including Promissory Notes and Other student financial assistance and retention programs
7. Assist students experiencing financial challenges by identifying appropriate assistance programs and coordinating with relevant offices.
8. Train, supervise, and support peer facilitators in implementing student guidance and support activities.
9. Coordinate the administration, scheduling, and documentation of psychological testing and assessment activities.
10. Process and issue Certificates of Good Moral Character and maintain appropriate student records and documentation.
11. Collaborate with faculty, academic heads, administrators, parents, and other stakeholders in addressing student concerns and developing appropriate interventions.
12. Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, student cases, interventions, referrals, and completion initiatives.
13. Develop, implement, and evaluate programs and activities that promote student well-being, retention, and successful completion of their studies.
14. Prepare and submit reports on counseling cases, students at risk, retention interventions, completion programs, and other student support initiatives.
15. Handles Hawak Kamay (HK) Scholarship process.
16. Perform other related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned in support of student welfare, retention, and completion.
