Guillotine Operator – Sheet Metal Fabrication

We are looking for a Guillotine Operator to join our busy sheet metal manufacturing team at GPS Ltd in Netherton, Dudley.

We are a family-run precision sheet metal company working with customers across a wide range of industries. Due to our workload, we are looking for someone reliable and experienced to join our shop floor team.

We are currently working towards ISO 9001 accreditation, so quality, traceability and taking responsibility for your own work are becoming an even bigger part of how we operate.

The role

Your main responsibility will be operating our sheet metal guillotine, cutting material accurately and safely ready for production.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

• Operating a sheet metal guillotine
• Cutting sheet metal accurately to drawings and job requirements
• Measuring and checking finished pieces
• Checking the quality and accuracy of your own cuts before work moves to the next stage
• Completing relevant quality checks and production paperwork as required
• Working with stainless steel, mild steel, aluminium and other materials
• Reading job sheets and basic engineering drawings
• Checking material, quantities and dimensions before cutting
• Reporting any material, drawing or quality issues immediately
• Following our quality procedures as we work towards ISO 9001 accreditation
• Keeping your work area clean, safe and organised
• Helping in other areas of production when required

What we're looking for

Previous experience operating a sheet metal guillotine is preferred.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience within sheet metal, fabrication or engineering
• Can confidently use measuring equipment
• Has good attention to detail
• Takes responsibility for checking the quality of their own work
• Understands that quality checks and paperwork are an important part of the job
• Works well as part of a team
• Is dependable and turns up ready to work
• Is willing to help out when things get busy

Working hours

Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
Friday: 8:00am – 1:00pm

Yes — 1pm finish every Friday!

Overtime is also available when required.
