Haitian Creole Interpreter

WiTIS Language LLC is seeking dynamic, professional, and highly skilled Freelance Interpreters to facilitate clear and accurate communication across diverse languages and cultural contexts.

As a Freelance Interpreter, you will provide interpretation services for organizations, community programs, government agencies, healthcare providers, legal professionals, educational institutions, and individual clients.

Your expertise will help create inclusive environments where language is never a barrier to understanding, access, or collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate interpretation services in your working languages, including American Sign Language (ASL) where applicable.
• Interpret in a variety of settings, including:
• Medical appointments
• Legal consultations and proceedings
• Immigration-related matters
• Educational environments
• Business meetings
• Government services
• Community events
• Facilitate effective communication between individuals with limited English proficiency and English-speaking professionals.
• Translate written documents, correspondence, or multimedia content when requested.
• Maintain the original meaning, tone, and intent of all interpreted or translated content.
• Collaborate with clients to understand assignment requirements and deliver high-quality language support.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards.
• Complete required assignment documentation and reporting.
• Keep accurate records of assignments, including dates, locations, languages used, and client feedback.
• Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance language and interpreting skills.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and at least one additional language.
• U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.
• Minimum of one (1) year of professional interpreting experience.
• Experience in legal, immigration, medical, or community interpreting preferred.
• Strong understanding of cultural nuances and professional communication standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interpret accurately and impartially in real-time situations.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments.
• Reliable internet connection and appropriate equipment for remote interpreting assignments.
• Reliable transportation.
• Permission to work in the United States
• Driver's License and Ability to travel.

Preferred Qualifications

• State, national, or industry-recognized interpreter certification.
• Court, medical, or community interpreting credentials.
• Experience with In-person interpretation settings.
• Experience with remote video interpreting (VRI) and over-the-phone interpreting (OPI) platforms.
• Knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
