Hand Finisher

Hand Finisher Job Summary
Responsible for manually removing (deburr, break edges, polish) machining imperfections from machined parts.

Primary Responsibilities

• Cleans, deburrs, polishes, and/or grinds metal parts with various powered and non-powered hand tools
• Deburrs or polishes metal parts with grinder and hand sander
• Scrapes or rubs parts with file, wire brush, or buffing cloth
• Holds part against buffing or grinding wheel
• Mounts part on revolving spindle or chuck and holds or moves tools such as file, abrasive stone, or cloth against work piece to file, grind, polish, or buff surface
• Cleans interior surfaces of holes.
• Other duties as assigned

Educational Requirements:

• High School education minimum. College degree preferred.

Skills Required:

• Ability to read blueprints
• Manual dexterity
• Fine motor skills with frequent hand and arm movement
• Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers
• Familiarity with blueprint reading and fabrication techniques
• Basic math skills and machining experience
• Ability to operate hand tools and perform quality inspections
• Strong attention to detail
