What they need
Slipstream Watercraft is looking for a motivated, hands-on person to join our small team building composite canoes and kayaks.
If you like working with your hands, enjoy seeing a project take shape, and want to learn a specialized skill, this could be a great fit. You don't necessarily need experience—we can teach the right person. Experience with composites, fiberglass, resin, or other hands-on shop work is a definite plus.
What You'll Do
As a Hand Laminator, you'll help build canoes and kayaks from the inside out. Your main job will be laying up composite materials using resin and working through the various stages of the manufacturing process.
You'll be:
- Laying up composite materials and applying resin
- Working with fiberglass and other composite materials
- Following build processes and paying attention to detail
- Managing multiple tasks throughout the day
- Keeping your work area clean and organized
- Working independently/with a team, and staying productive without needing constant direction
- Learning new techniques and developing your composite-building skills
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is:
- Comfortable being on their feet and working throughout the day
- Comfortable working around resin while following proper safety procedures
- A self-starter who can see what needs to be done and get to work
- Able to multitask and stay organized
- Reliable and willing to learn
- Comfortable working with their hands
- Detail-oriented and takes pride in doing quality work
- Interested in learning a skilled trade
No composite experience? That's okay. We're willing to train the right person. Some previous hands-on shop, construction, woodworking, automotive, manufacturing, or similar experience would be great, but we're more interested in finding someone with the right attitude and willingness to learn.
Why Work at Slipstream?
We're a small, relaxed shop with only a handful of employees, and we like it that way. Our owners are approachable, easygoing, and genuinely enjoy working with the people on our team.
You'll have the opportunity to learn a skill that you can actually see and feel the results of every day. There's something pretty satisfying about starting with raw materials and ending up with a finished boat that someone is excited to own.
Our customers are passionate about Slipstream Watercraft and love what we build. One of the best parts of the job is getting to see that excitement firsthand and knowing you helped make it happen.
