The Parks Operations team helps keep our parks, gardens, and public spaces clean, safe, and enjoyable for residents and visitors. As a Handcutter/Weedeater Operator, you will use mowing and weed-eating equipment to help maintain parks, gardens and reserve areas. You will follow a scheduled maintenance program and work on sites managed by both the council and external clients.

Ideally, we are looking for people with experience using small machinery and plant such as commercial blowers and line trimmers (weed eaters) however we are also open to considering people looking for entry into the world of turf maintenance with the right attitude.

As well as being energetic and having great time management, in addition to:

  • A full clean NZ class 1 driver licence
  • The ability to prioritise, working to programmed maintenance schedules and within timeframes
  • Health & Safety awareness
  • Customer Service experience
  • The ability to work well with others and/or unsupervised
  • The ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Good physical health

We will provide you with all the training required and will help you grow and develop in this role. We have a busy year ahead and we are interested in hearing from people with a great attitude who would like to be part of a supportive and friendly team. In exchange for your skills, you'll work for an organisation that really values its people - we provide a lot of learning and development opportunities.

As this is a safety sensitive role, the successful candidate will need to undergo pre-employment drug and alcohol screening in addition to medical and health checks. Applicants will also undergo a Ministry of Justice check.

Please note that this is a full-time role, 8 hours a day, Monday - Friday. Hours are usually 7am - 3.30pm however this can vary due to seasonal changes and other factors.
