What they need

Handyman / Property Inspector – Family Office

Reporting to: Estates Management Team
Full-time

About the Role

We are seeking a practical, highly organised and proactive handyman/property Inspector to support the Management Team in maintaining a mixed property portfolio, primarily residential alongside commercial and land assets.

This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone with a strong practical background who takes pride in maintaining properties to a high standard. You will be responsible for carrying out routine inspections, identifying maintenance requirements, completing minor repairs and ensuring properties are well maintained and prepared for use.

The role will involve working across the portfolio, liaising with contractors and suppliers, and providing practical support to ensure properties, grounds, vehicles and associated services are maintained to the required standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out regular property inspections, identifying maintenance, repair and presentation requirements, and monitoring the condition of properties, outbuildings, equipment and external areas.
  • Undertake general maintenance and minor repairs, including basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating, fixtures, fittings and general upkeep.
  • Identify and report maintenance issues promptly, taking appropriate action where required.
  • Support the Management Team in ensuring scheduled works are completed within required timescales.
  • Oversee contractors, tradespeople and maintenance suppliers on site, inspect completed works and follow up on outstanding issues.
  • Ensure inspections and property works are accurately logged on the property management software and maintain key logs.
  • Carry out regular checks to ensure properties are fully prepared for visits and occupancy, including property turnovers, deliveries and other preparations.
  • Support the maintenance and presentation of gardens, garages, storage areas and other estate facilities.
  • Assist with the upkeep and basic checks of the vehicle fleet, liaising with the Management Team regarding servicing, MOTs and repairs.
  • Monitor utilities and report any issues or unusual usage.
  • Assist with the practical requirements of estate events and visits, including rental vehicles, equipment, collections and deliveries.
  • Respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues and support out-of-hours requirements where necessary.
  • Maintain clean, safe and organised working areas across all properties.

About You

  • Practical and confident carrying out a broad range of general maintenance tasks.
  • Highly organised, reliable and proactive, with strong attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship.
  • Able to identify maintenance issues and take appropriate action before they become significant problems.
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities across different properties.
  • Professional, discreet and trustworthy when working within a private family office environment.
  • Must hold a full UK drivers license.
  • Strong communication and record-keeping skills.
  • Flexible and willing to undertake a range of practical and operational duties.
  • Previous experience in property maintenance, estates, hospitality, private households, facilities management or a similar environment is advantageous but not essential.
  • Relevant trade qualifications or practical experience in plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, decorating or general building maintenance would be advantageous.
