Hardware Component Engineer

Role Overview:

As a Hardware Component Engineer , you will be responsible for defining and maintaining the component strategy for hardware used in signalling systems. You will act as a key interface between suppliers, product development teams, projects, and obsolescence management, ensuring component quality, availability, and standardization throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain the component strategy for hardware components (e.g., resistors, capacitors, monitors, servers).
• Drive component standardization, qualification, availability, and quality activities.
• Select and qualify components according to company standards and engineering requirements.
• Review BOMs and collaborate with Product and Solution Owners to identify optimal component solutions.
• Act as the technical interface with suppliers for component-related topics.
• Review component documentation, including datasheets and compliance records.
• Create and maintain part numbers, preferred parts lists, and component specifications.
• Support obsolescence monitoring and management, including identification of replacement solutions.
• Maintain accurate component data in product database systems.

Required Qualifications:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in Component Engineering within Rail Signalling, Automotive, Aerospace, Avionics, or other high-reliability electronic systems industries.
• Strong technical knowledge of passive COTS electronic components.
• Experience with component qualification, lifecycle, and standardization processes.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Professional proficiency in English.

Nice to Have:

• Experience working with engineering databases and product data management systems.
• Knowledge of obsolescence management processes.
• German language skills.
