What they need

Embedded Hardware & Firmware Engineer | Austin, TX

I’m supporting an Austin-based advanced engineering company developing embedded products for demanding industrial environments.

We’re looking for an Embedded Engineer who sits genuinely across hardware and firmware , with the role leaning more heavily toward the hardware side .

Ideally, you’ll have around 3–5 years of hands-on experience developing embedded products and be comfortable taking hardware from design through to working prototype.

The core requirements are straightforward:

  • Strong embedded hardware + firmware experience
  • Hands-on PCB design experience - schematic capture and board layout
  • Proven board bring-up and hardware debugging
  • Experience developing products for industrial, rugged or harsh environments
  • Embedded C/C++ experience working with MCU-based systems

You should be comfortable working at board level with tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and multimeters, troubleshooting across the hardware/firmware boundary rather than operating purely on the software side.

Useful additional experience includes:

  • BLE or other wireless technologies
  • Low-power / battery-powered devices
  • Sensors, IoT or remote monitoring products
  • Altium
  • EMC/EMI and signal integrity
  • FreeRTOS, Zephyr or bare-metal development
  • LoRa

This is a hands-on product development role with the opportunity to work across PCB design, firmware, sensors, wireless connectivity, bring-up and real-world deployment .

Important: this isn’t a firmware-only or validation/test position. We specifically need engineers who have been involved in designing PCBs and bringing their own hardware to life .

Other offers great for you!
