Hardware Planning Specialist

Role & responsibilities

As a Hardware Planning Specialist, you will be responsible for developing mainframe hardware growth strategies, planning processor upgrades and refresh cycles, forecasting CPU and memory requirements, and supporting hardware procurement and financial planning. The role involves coordinating large-scale infrastructure changes and aligning infrastructure roadmaps with business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop mainframe hardware growth strategies.
• Plan processor upgrades and hardware refresh cycles.
• Forecast CPU and memory requirements.
• Support hardware procurement and financial planning.
• Coordinate large-scale infrastructure changes.
• Support customer growth and modernization initiatives.
• Align infrastructure roadmaps with business demand.
• Recommend modernization options and collaborate with stakeholders.

Preferred candidate profile

Required Technical & Professional Expertise

• Strong knowledge of IBM Z architecture.
• Expertise in CPC configuration and enterprise mainframe infrastructure.
• Experience in capacity forecasting and performance modeling.
• Experience with processor sizing and resource optimization.
• Expertise in hardware lifecycle management.
• Experience in upgrade planning and infrastructure capacity management.
• Experience with financial planning, ROI analysis, and technology investment planning.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019, VMware ESX, and public/private cloud environments.
• Understanding of on-premises to cloud migrations
