You’ll play a vital role in breeding and growing tiger prawns, ensuring the health and sustainability of our broodstocks and delivering high-quality post-larvae to our farms. This is a hands-on role that combines animal husbandry, technical skills, and a commitment to sustainability. With a flexible roster, you’ll enjoy a fantastic work/life balance while contributing to a thriving aquaculture operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare feed and perform daily feeding routines to support optimal prawn growth.
  • Conduct routine health checks using microscopy and visual observation. Identify, diagnose, and escalate any health issues promptly.
  • Sample and test water quality using meters and probes to maintain ideal conditions for prawn growth.
  • Accurately document hatchery activities, including larval production and water quality data, using iPads and computers.
  • Implement and maintain biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreaks, including disinfection and cleaning of tanks and equipment.
  • Monitor prawn health and behaviour, escalating any concerns to ensure timely resolution.

Role requirements:

  • Aquaculture or agriculture experience is highly desirable but not essential. Full training will be provided.
  • This is a physically demanding role. Successful applicants will need to pass a health and fitness test prior to starting.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for sustainable aquaculture.
  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • The legal right to work in Australia.

Role offerings:

  • A flexible roster that allows you to enjoy the stunning natural beauty and lifestyle of Far North Queensland

  • Huge potential for career development and progression
  • Access to Maxxia Salary Packaging, Novated Leasing & Rewards programme
  • Workplace health and wellbeing support for you and your family
