Hazmat Technician

About the Role

We are seeking two reliable, safety‑focused Hazardous Materials Technicians to join our team. This role involves asbestos abatement, selective demolition, site preparation, and general labour on residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Our main locations of work are Duncan, Victoria and Nanaimo, BC.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform asbestos abatement and other hazardous materials removal in accordance with WorkSafeBC regulations
• Operate hand tools and demolition equipment safely and efficiently
• Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and site procedures
• Work collaboratively with supervisors and crew members
• Travel to out‑of‑town job sites as required (accommodations provided)
• Work overtime when needed to meet project timelines

Requirements

• WorkSafeBC Level 2 Asbestos Safety Certificate (mandatory)
• Valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence (or equivalent)
• Ability to pass a fit test and wear full PPE, including respirators (must be clean shaven)
• Physically capable of lifting (up to 50lb), bending, and working in confined spaces for extended periods of time
• Strong work ethic, punctuality, and attention to detail
• Own transportation (to get to central pick-up locations, often early in the morning, should not rely on public transport)

Preferred Assets

• Experience in hazmat abatement, demolition, or construction
• Additional safety certifications (e.g., Fall Protection, First Aid, WHMIS)
• WorkSafeBC Level 3 Asbestos Safety Leader Certificate (not mandatory)
