HD Mechanic Contractor

Job Overview
We are seeking a responsible and skilled individual for HD Mechanic Contractor position that will provide expert maintenance and repair services for heavy-duty equipment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with heavy machinery, including excavators, dozers, rock trucks, while demonstrating strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills. This role requires a proactive approach to equipment maintenance, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards are maintained at all times.

Service Truck, tools, and coveralls are provided on site during your shift.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment
• Operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment safely and efficiently during repair procedures
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards during all maintenance activities
• Repair and service Caterpillar, Hitachi, Deere, Komatsu equipment both in the shop and in the field
• Diagnose, identify and repair problems, faults and malfunctions in structural, mechanical or hydraulic systems
• Maintain and repair vehicles including but not limited to: earth moving equipment, trucks, trailers and tracked equipment
• A self-driven approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Take direction from shop Foreman to ensure all repairs and tests are performed satisfactorily both in the field and in the shop
• Strong problem-solving mindset and commitment to quality service and safety
• Follow all safety standards, best practices, and company and site policies
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Interprovincial Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic trade certification
• Valid Class 5 license
• Minimum 5 years experience
• Prior experience with Caterpillar, Hitachi, Deere, Komatsu equipment
• Steel-toe boots required
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
• Work 12/h days, 7 ON 7 OFF shift rotation
• Camp not available. Responsible for getting to and from the site daily.
