Introduction

• Casual is a creative space in Hong Kong, dedicated to all kinds of art: Music, Exhibition, Wellness, Fashion. Dance.

• The mission is to bring a new narrative to Hong Kong with one of the best experiences and sound across multiple spaces of music, built for dancers and art lovers.

• Noted for its impressive sound system featuring what may be the largest speakers in the city, built directly into an acoustically ideal listening room. Everything was custom designed and built in-house from the ground up to deliver massive, audiophile-quality sound, even when there’s a crowd. Opening in September 2026, Casual operates as a cafe/recordstore in the day and organic wine bar/multi-purpose creative space in the evening. Across music, art, & wellness --  you’ll find a love for self-expression, a home for co-creation and a place to enjoy the interconnection between bodies, ideas and art.

About the Role: We are seeking a passionate Head Barista to lead our daily coffee shop operations. The ideal candidate is a coffee/tea enthusiast who excels at crafting high-quality beverages, building community relationships, and sharing our brand’s values with every cup.

Key Responsibilities

Store Operations & Leadership

• Oversee Daily Operations: Manage the day-to-day running of the coffee shop, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
• Event Support: Assist with brand activations, pop-ups, and special community events.
• Transaction Management: Accurately process payments while strictly adhering to company procedures.
• Safety & Hygiene: Observe and maintain strict compliance with all relevant health, safety, and sanitation standards.

Coffee Quality & Equipment

• Craft Exceptional Beverages: Prepare and serve coffee and tea beverages that consistently meet our high-quality standards.
• Equipment Maintenance: Properly handle, calibrate, and maintain all espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment.
• Brand Expertise: Demonstrate a thorough, in-depth understanding of our brand, products, and coffee origins.

Customer Experience

• Engaging Service: Serve customers quickly and efficiently while enthusiastically discussing our brand and core values.
• Community Building: Provide friendly, top-tier service to build genuine, lasting relationships with our customers and the local community.
• Customer Care: Respond to orders, questions, concerns, and complaints in a polite, professional, and highly efficient manner.

Requirements

• Experience: Proven, hands-on experience working as a Barista (prior leadership or supervisory experience is highly preferred).
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of espresso machinery mechanics and grinder calibration.
• Coffee Expertise: Strong grasp of coffee extraction science, sensory evaluation, and basic roasting principles.
• Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a team-player mindset.
• Languages: Fluent in English; proficiency in Cantonese and Mandarin is a strong plus.
• Certifications (Bonus): SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) certification is highly advantageous.
• Creativity: Be proactive in pushing for innovative concepts regarding menu creation and beverage creation
