Head Barista

Job Summary

Alfred Coffee is seeking an experienced, passionate, and dependable Head Barista to lead daily coffee bar operations and provide an exceptional experience for every guest. The ideal candidate has strong specialty coffee knowledge, excellent beverage preparation skills, and the ability to support and guide baristas while maintaining high standards for quality, cleanliness, and service.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily coffee bar operations and help maintain efficient service.
• Prepare espresso, brewed coffee, tea, and specialty beverages according to café standards.
• Dial in espresso and adjust grind settings to maintain consistent extraction and quality.
• Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and other café equipment.
• Monitor beverage quality, presentation, recipes, and portion standards.
• Welcome guests and provide friendly, professional, and knowledgeable service.
• Take orders and operate the POS system accurately.
• Process cash, card, and other payment transactions.
• Answer questions about coffee, beverages, menu items, and preparation methods.
• Provide thoughtful coffee and beverage recommendations based on guest preferences.
• Train, coach, and support baristas and new team members as assigned.
• Help coordinate workflow and staff responsibilities during busy service periods.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked coffee bar.
• Clean and properly maintain coffee equipment and workstations.
• Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs to management.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
• Assist with opening, closing, cleaning, and daily café procedures.
• Address guest requests and service concerns professionally.
• Report equipment issues, operational concerns, and inventory needs to management.
• Perform additional duties assigned by café management.

Requirements

• Previous barista experience with senior or lead-level experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of espresso preparation, coffee brewing, and beverage service.
• Experience using commercial espresso machines and grinders.
• Ability to maintain consistent quality during high-volume service.
• Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Friendly, professional, and guest-focused attitude.
• Ability to train and support other baristas.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Ability to follow recipes, procedures, and café standards.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform routine café duties.
• Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
