About the role

Bantr Cafe is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen operations and culinary vision. This is a casual position based in Palm Beach, QLD 4221, where you will oversee food preparation, maintain our high standards of quality and presentation, and inspire a passionate team dedicated to creating exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

What you'll be doing

• Planning and executing diverse menus that reflect current culinary trends and seasonal ingredients available in the Palm Beach area
• Supervising and training kitchen staff, ensuring consistent adherence to food safety, hygiene and presentation standards
• Managing kitchen inventory, food ordering and stock rotation to minimise waste and control costs
• Preparing and cooking dishes to the highest standard, maintaining consistency across all menu items
• Collaborating with management to develop new dishes and refine existing recipes based on customer feedback
• Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment that complies with all health and safety regulations
• Monitoring portion sizes and plating presentations to ensure brand consistency
• Responding to customer preferences and dietary requirements with flexibility and professionalism

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef in a busy cafe, restaurant or hospitality environment
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene practices and health and safety regulations in food preparation
• Excellent culinary skills with the ability to prepare a variety of cuisines and dietary requirements
• Leadership and team management capabilities with the ability to motivate and develop junior kitchen staff
• Outstanding organisational and time-management skills, particularly in high-pressure service periods
• Passion for quality ingredients and innovative cooking techniques
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with front-of-house staff and management
• Relevant culinary qualifications or extensive demonstrated experience in a professional kitchen environment
• Knowledge of costing and menu planning would be advantageous
