Head Chef

About the role

As Head Chef, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day operation and performance of the kitchen at François Eatery, an award-winning neighbourhood eatery built around quality food, great coffee and genuine hospitality. The menu takes inspiration from European cooking while remaining approachable, seasonal and suited to the community served.

Key responsibilities

• Leading, training and developing the kitchen team
• Maintaining consistently high standards of food quality and presentation
• Managing kitchen service in a busy, high-volume environment
• Menu development and seasonal specials
• Food costing, portion control and gross profit management
• Ordering, stock control and supplier management
• Rostering and effective management of kitchen labour
• Maintaining food safety, cleanliness and compliance standards
• Reducing wastage and improving kitchen efficiency
• Working closely with management and FOH to deliver a seamless guest experience

About you

• Proven experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef or senior kitchen leader
• Qualified chef
• Confident leading and developing a team
• Able to remain organised and composed during busy services
• Strong food and labour cost awareness
• Understands stock control, ordering and kitchen systems
• Takes pride in consistency and attention to detail
• Hands-on and willing to lead from the front
• Genuine passion for hospitality and creating great food
• Available across a full-time roster, including weekends
