The Golden Fleece Hotel is seeking an accomplished and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen and help shape the next chapter of one of Gawler’s most recognisable hospitality venues.

The Opportunity

As Head Chef, you will take ownership of the kitchen’s performance, culture and culinary direction. Working closely with our directors and management team, you’ll lead from the front and create food that keeps guests coming back.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading, mentoring and developing a capable kitchen team
• Creating and evolving seasonal, commercially successful menus
• Delivering exceptional quality, consistency and presentation
• Managing food costs, labour, ordering, stock control and wastage
• Overseeing busy à la carte services, functions and special events
• Maintaining excellent food safety, cleanliness and compliance standards
• Building strong supplier relationships and sourcing quality produce
• Creating a positive, organised and accountable kitchen culture
• Collaborating with the leadership team to grow the venue’s food offering

About You

You’re a confident and experienced culinary leader who understands that a great kitchen is built on more than excellent food. You know how to bring people together, maintain standards under pressure and balance creativity with strong commercial performance.

You will bring:

• Proven experience as a Head Chef or in a senior kitchen leadership role
• Strong leadership, communication and team-development skills
• Experience managing food and labour costs, ordering and stock control
• A passion for quality produce, seasonal menus and elevated pub dining
• The ability to lead high-volume services with consistency and composure
• Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills
• A hands-on leadership style and willingness to support the team
• Relevant cookery qualifications and food safety certifications
