Heritage Hotels NZ is a Waikato based company consisting of The Rangiriri Hotel and Paeroa Hotel.

These two hotels are some of the Waikato regions historic landmark establishments.

The Rangiriri Hotel, known for its exceptional dining experiences and warm hospitality, is located a short distance from SH1 between Hamilton and Auckland.

The Paeroa Hotel is on the main route that connects Waikato to the Coromandel Coast and further South.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Head Chef to join our team and to lead and manage both sites. Future plans may see more sites added to the portfolio

As the Senior Head Chef, you will be responsible for leading and inspiring our kitchen to deliver exceptional culinary experiences for our guests. The expectation is this is a hands-on role with a physical presence in each location as required to deliver the agreed KPI’s and baseline performance

This is a full-time position that will allow you to showcase your creativity and expertise in the hospitality industry combined with your exceptional leadership skills.

What you'll be doing

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen including rostering and ensuring efficient and high-quality food preparation and presentation
• Develop and implement innovative menus that showcase seasonal and locally sourced ingredients
• Manage and mentor the Head chefs and kitchen team at each site, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
• Performance management of all staff to maintain standards liaising with the HR manager.
• Ensure strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards
• Work with the Directors & Management Team on new strategic initiatives to increase revenue for Rangiriri Hotel, Paeroa and other sites as acquired
• Management and implementation of all staff rosters across each site to ensure adequate cover at all times.
• Monitor food costs and inventory, making adjustments to achieve financial targets
• Collaborate with the front-of-house team to provide an exceptional dining experience for our guests

What we're looking for

• Minimum 4 years' experience as a Head Chef or in a senior culinary role within the hospitality industry
• Experience in bistro/restaurant/cafe/pub style offering is essential
• Demonstrated expertise in creating and executing creative, high-quality menus
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a kitchen team
• Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and inventory management
• Passion for using fresh, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
