On a Roll is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Head Chef ready to take ownership of our kitchen and come with us into the next stage of the business.

We’ve been operating in Hamilton for over 10 years and have some big changes ahead, including expansion, a new menu and a much bigger focus on where we take On a Roll next.

This is a hands-on role. We need someone who can lead a kitchen, run a tight service, manage a team and understand that great food still has to make commercial sense.

What you’ll be responsible for

• Leading and managing the kitchen team
• Running service and maintaining consistency across food, prep and presentation
• Menu development alongside the owner
• Food costing, margins, ordering, stock control and waste
• Rostering and managing kitchen labour
• Maintaining recipes, systems and kitchen standards
• Training and developing the team
• Food safety and compliance
• Helping us build a kitchen that can handle the next stage of growth

Who we’re looking for

You’ll have solid experience in a senior kitchen role and be confident taking responsibility for the whole kitchen not only cooking.

You need to be organised, commercially switched on and good with people. You should know your numbers, know how to lead a team and be able to spot a problem before it becomes everyone else’s problem.

We move fast, we have a lot happening, and there’s plenty of room for the right person to have input into what comes next.
