Head Custodian

We are seeking a dependable and dedicated Head Custodian to help ensure our school remains clean, safe, welcoming, and well-maintained for students, families, faculty, and visitors. This position plays an important role in supporting a positive learning environment by maintaining the school building, grounds, and mechanical systems.

The Head Custodian works closely with school leadership and is responsible for daily custodial duties, basic facility maintenance, and responding to building needs as they arise.

Responsibilities

• Clean assigned areas of the school according to established procedures and standards.
• Maintain classrooms, hallways, offices, restrooms, and common areas to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
• Perform routine custodial duties, including floor care, restroom cleaning, and waste removal.
• Assist with facility projects such as painting, furniture moving, and equipment or furniture assembly.
• Monitor building conditions and report maintenance concerns.
• Respond to building emergencies when needed.
• Help maintain school grounds and support seasonal maintenance activities.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid State of Maine Criminal History Records Check approval.
• Ability to safely perform physical work, including lifting, bending, climbing, and working around maintenance equipment and cleaning products.

Preferred

• Previous custodial, janitorial, building maintenance, or facilities experience.
• Basic knowledge of building systems and maintenance practices.

Schedule

• Full-time, year-round position.
• Occasional emergency response duties may be required.

Reports directly to the Principal and Pastor.
