Head Delivery

Role & responsibilities

The Delivery Head Software will be a hands-on technology and delivery leader responsible for the development, deployment, and delivery of BCI's software solutions, with a strong focus on solutions built for manufacturing, supply chain, and B2B enterprise customers.

This is a technically strong leadership role for someone who has grown through software engineering and architecture, and remains comfortable engaging with architecture, code quality, and technology decisions — rather than a role focused purely on program governance and stakeholder coordination.

This role requires a strong balance of software engineering depth, hands-on technical credibility, customer management, delivery execution, and people leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Software Engineering & Technology Leadership

• Own technical architecture, design decisions, and engineering standards across BCI's software products, with a particular focus on solutions for manufacturing and B2B enterprise customers.
• Maintain strong, hands-on working knowledge of enterprise application development, including .NET, ASP.NET, Angular, APIs, integrations, databases, and Android technologies.
• Drive engineering best practices — code quality, secure coding, performance, scalability, and maintainability — across all software teams.
• Stay hands-on enough to review critical architecture/design decisions and guide teams through complex technical problems.

Development & Deployment Ownership

• Own the complete development-to-deployment lifecycle — requirements, architecture, coding, testing, CI/CD, release, and production deployment.
• Ensure robust DevOps practices, release management, and environment management (Dev/QA/Staging/Production) across all projects.
• Ensure software solutions deployed for manufacturing and B2B customers are reliable, secure, and scalable in live production environments.

Technical Team Leadership

• Directly lead, mentor, and grow the development team and the Database/backend engineering team, setting technical direction and reviewing engineering output.
• Build a culture of engineering ownership, code quality, technical accountability, and continuous learning across software teams.
• Partner with HR to hire and develop strong software engineering and technical delivery talent.

Delivery Leadership & Customer Management

• Own end-to-end delivery across BCI's software projects, programs, and customer engagements, ensuring technically sound and commercially effective outcomes.
• Promote effective Agile engineering practices (Scrum/Kanban) integrated with strong technical rigour.
• Act as a senior technical and delivery escalation point for strategic and CXO-level customers.

Commercial & Resource Management

• Own delivery capacity planning, resource allocation, and utilisation across the software portfolio.
• Partner with Finance and business leadership to monitor project economics, delivery costs, and margins.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field. MBA/postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
• 14+ years of experience in software engineering, technical architecture, and delivery leadership, with a strong hands-on technical background — this is not purely a program/project management role.
• Strong hands-on/working knowledge of .NET, ASP.NET, and Angular; working knowledge of Android and database technologies.
• Strong understanding of APIs, system integrations, cloud platforms, DevOps/CI-CD, and quality engineering.
• Proven experience directly leading software engineering teams — including Android and Database/backend teams — not just coordinating them.
• Demonstrated experience managing senior customers and handling critical technical/delivery escalations.

Preferred Experience

• Strong preference for candidates with .NET and enterprise software experience from B2B / manufacturing solutions backgrounds.
• Experience building and deploying software solutions for manufacturing, shop-floor, supply chain, warehousing, RFID, IoT, or mobility domains.
• Direct, hands-on experience leading Android application development teams and Database/backend engineering teams.
