Head Engineering Design

Role & responsibilities

• End-to-End Line Architecture: Lead the structural engineering design, factory layouts, line balancing, and process flow maps for cell, module, and battery pack assembly.
• Bill of Process (BOP): Establish the definitive Bill of Process, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and equipment control plan matrices.
• Capacity & Takt Time Optimization: Simulate and optimize process line throughput, machinery capacity constraints, cycle times, and operator ergonomics.
• Simultaneous Engineering: Collaborate dynamically with the Product R&D team during early design loops to enforce DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) rules.
• Tolerance Stack-Up Analysis: Perform rigorous mechanical interface assessments and geometric tolerance checks to ensure product components fit seamlessly on automated assembly lines.
• Engineering Change Control: Evaluate, validate, and sign off on Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), mapping out their direct impact on existing tooling, fixtures, and cycle times.
• Equipment Engineering & Automation
• Vendor & OEM Management: Author technical specifications and RFQs for custom manufacturing machinery (e.g., laser welders, wire bonders, automated cell sorters, dosing systems, and end-of-line testers).
• Tooling & Fixtures: Direct the internal prototyping, manufacturing, and validation of custom jigs, assembly fixtures, and proof-of-concept testing mechanisms.
• Advanced Automation Integration: Implement smart factory architectures including PLCs, SCADA, robotics, and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) tracking.
• Pilot Line Validation: Oversee the transition from laboratory prototypes to pilot runs and eventual mass production.
• Failure Mode Interception: Lead multi-disciplinary risk exercises to generate PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and control plans to isolate assembly line risks before SOP (Start of Production).

Preferred candidate profile

• M.Tech/ B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience: 15 + years in Battery / Automobile Manufacturing engineering knowledge and leading process design teams.
