What they need

Nau mai ki te roopu Arvida | Welcome to Arvida

At Arvida, we create communities with freedom to thrive.

We develop and operate communities that provide independent living and aged care services to older New Zealanders - with a resident-led approach. Each day, our interactions with our team and residents are guided by three values: Being There | In it Together | Look for a Way.

Mō te tūranga | About the Role

Our Head Gardeners play an important role in building thriving communities at Arvida.

At Bethlehem Country Club, you will lead your team in providing a park-life environment through planning, directing, and overseeing the maintenance of gardens, lawns, and landscaping to an excellent standard.

You will set and oversee the garden schedule, provide guidance and direction to the team, and ensure all work is carried out according to design briefs, within budget, and in accordance with correct procedure - all with a continuous improvement mindset.

We run natural, non-toxic systems in our villages and encourage a values-led working environment. This is an opportunity to truly make an impact on our resident's lives and their day-to-day surroundings.

This is a full time role working Monday - Friday. You will hold a Level 4 qualification in Horticulture, have an eye for design, extensive knowledge of plants and their habitats, demonstrate an interest in organics and sustainability, and experience in managing and developing a team.

To tatou kaitono pai | Our ideal candidate must have

  • Minimum of 2 years in a similar role or 5 years of horticultural experience
  • Level 4 Horticulture qualification
  • Current first aid certificate
  • NZ Drivers License for village vehicles
  • Strong understanding of plants, growth patterns, and safe work practices
  • Ability to coach, motivate, and lead team members
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • High motivation with strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
  • Interest in interacting with older New Zealanders

  • Full uniform and PPE supplied
  • An engaging and positive work environment
  • An experienced and supportive culture with a dedicated village team

If you are looking for a rewarding position that makes a significant difference, we'd love to hear from you!
