Head of Accounts

Job Summary

IITIL is looking for an experienced Head of Accounts to manage the company’s accounting function and ensure accurate financial records, timely reporting and statutory compliance. The role will oversee general accounting, accounts payable and receivable, taxation, audits, cash-flow monitoring, budgeting and the accounts team. The position will work closely with management, Finance, HR, Operations and other departments to maintain strong financial controls.

Key Responsibilities

· Manage day-to-day accounting operations and ensure proper maintenance of books of accounts.

· Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank entries and reconciliations.

· Ensure timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing and reporting.

· Prepare financial statements, management reports and account schedules.

· Monitor cash flow, collections, vendor payments and working-capital requirements.

· Coordinate client invoicing and follow up on outstanding receivables with relevant teams.

· Prepare annual budgets, track actual performance and report financial variances.

· Ensure timely GST, TDS, income-tax and other applicable statutory compliances and filings.

· Coordinate statutory, internal and tax audits and provide the required records and explanations.

· Maintain appropriate accounting controls, approval processes and supporting documentation.

· Review payroll accounting, employee reimbursements and related reconciliations in coordination with HR.

· Ensure accurate accounting and verification of company assets and depreciation records.

· Support management with financial analysis and information required for business decisions.

· Lead, guide and review the performance of the accounts team.

Educational Qualifications

· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting or a related field.

· CA, CMA/ICWA, CA Inter, MBA Finance or an equivalent professional qualification is preferred.

Experience Required

· 10–15 years of experience in accounting, finance and statutory compliance.

· Minimum 4–5 years of experience leading an accounts or finance team.

· Experience in an IT services, technology, consulting or project-based organization is preferred.

· Strong experience in financial closing, taxation, audits, budgeting and MIS reporting is required.

Required Skills

· Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and internal controls.

· Good knowledge of GST, TDS, income tax and other applicable Indian statutory requirements.

· Experience in budgeting, cash-flow management, audit coordination and reconciliations.

· Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills.

· Good communication and coordination skills.

· Ability to lead an accounts team and work effectively with senior management.

· High level of integrity, confidentiality and professional judgment.

· Proficiency in accounting/ERP software, advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

Key Performance Indicators

· Accuracy and timely closure of monthly and annual accounts.

· Timely statutory filings and payments without penalties.

· Collection of receivables and effective cash-flow management.

· Timely completion of audits and closure of audit observations.

· Accuracy and usefulness of financial reports and MIS.

· Budget control and performance of the accounts team.
